04.30.13 – Emotion/Driving
Did you know that your emotional state could be a distraction?
If your emotional state is running wild you should not be behind the wheel; it is dangerous for you as a driver as well others on the road with you because your attention is elsewhere. Keep a cool head and relax before getting behind the wheel.
Congratulations to Zachary T. on passing your PA State Driver’s License Exam and becoming a Licensed PA Driver!
04.29.13 – Hydroplaning
Have you ever skidded while driving on a wet road for what seemed like a split second or even longer? Even if you didn’t lose complete control, you most likely experienced hydroplaning.
Here are a few tips to avoid hydroplaning:
1. Keep your tires properly inflated
2. Rotate and replace tires when necessary
3. Slow down when roads are wet: the faster you drive, the harder it is for your tires to scatter the water
4. Stay away from puddles and standing water when possible
5. Avoid driving in outer lanes where water tends to accumulate
6. Try to drive in the tire tracks left by the cars in front of you
7. Turn off cruise control if it’s on
8. Drive in a lower gear is possible
9. Avoid hard braking by leaving enough distance between you and the other drivers
10. Try not to make sharp or quick turns
Be careful, the roads in our area can be very slick when wet, be safe.

04.19.13 – Spring Rain
Beware of the rain that’s on its way to us… Spring rain brings slippery road conditions and flooding. Wet pavement and rain cause slippery roads and reduces your car’s handling. The distance it takes you to stop a car increases about 4 times the normal stopping distance on wet pavement. You should also be aware that big puddles also cut down on your tire traction and could lead to hydroplaning. Be careful out there.
